TAC announces art exhibition winners

The Art Center - Highland Park has announced the winners of its annual "In-View" member and faculty exhibition and "Art is Alive in Highland Park" exhibition at their opening night awards and recognition ceremony Friday, Jan. 8.

Gabrielle Rousso, executive director of TAC, was joined by Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering to present the "In-View" recognitions, with Best of Show awarded to Jennifer Cronin of Chicago. Her piece, "What was Once a Home (South Throop Street)," is a carbon pencil on paper drawing priced at $2,800.

Mayor Rotering also announced the awards for "Art is Alive in Highland Park," recognizing the outstanding talents of 20 local artists from elementary school through adult from more than 90 artist submissions. The first-place winners by age group include:

• Elementary School: Celeste Courtland

• Middle School: (tie) Rodrigo Soto and Kyle Connors

• High School: Katherine Grinnell

• Adult: (tie) Laurence Segil and Beth Boyd

"A wide range of artistic experience and mediums have created an exciting opportunity for TAC to showcase the phenomenal and unique talents of TAC's members and faculty artists here on the North Shore, as well as from Chicago and 20 participating Chicagoland suburbs," Rousso said.

The exhibit features approximately 100 original works created by TAC students, members, faculty and emerging professional artists.

"In-View" and "Art is Alive in Highland Park" will be on view through Jan. 28.
