Second straight victory for Grant

Jasmine Sangster scored 21 points, and Grant' girls basketball team defeated visiting Round Lake 58-48 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Wednesday night.

Jordynn Hundley added 11 points for Grant (11-7, 5-1). Sangster sank a pair of 3-pointers.

Round Lake received 19 points from Miyah Johnson and 17 from Tatyana Steadman.

Grant 52, Wauconda 46: On Tuesday night, Grant snapped a five-game losing streak by beating host Wauconda in North Suburban Prairie play.

Senior guard Jasmine Sangster scored a team-high 16 points for Grant (10-7, 4-1), while freshman Ally Mahinay had 14 and McKaylie Krey 12.

Katie Rossetti led all scorers with 18 points and also contributed 4 rebounds and 5 steals, and Wauconda (10-8, 2-4) also got double-digit scoring from Allie Tylka (11 points, 8 rebounds) and Corrina Vaughn (10 points, 3 steals). Rossetti had missed the Bulldogs' last two games.

Wauconda lost its seventh straight, but coach Jaime Dennis was pleased with her team's effort in its fifth game in the last seven days while battling an array of illnesses and injuries.

"Although we `came up short, it was the best basketball we have played since before Christmas," Dennis said.
