Grant ends streak by topping Wauconda

Grant's girls basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak by earning a 52-46 victory over Wauconda on Tuesday in North Suburban Lake play.

Senior guard Jasmine Sangster scored a team-high 16 points for Grant (10-7, 4-1) while Ally Mahinay had 14 and McKaylie Krey 12.

Katie Rossetti led all scorers with 18 points and also contributed 4 rebounds and 5 steals, and Wauconda (10-8, 2-4) also got double-digit scoring from Allie Tylka (11 points, 8 rebounds) and Corrina Vaughn (10 points).

Wauconda lost its seventh straight, but coach Jamie Dennis was pleased with her team's effort in its fifth game in the last seven days while battling an array of illnesses and injuries.

"Although we came up short, it was the best basketball we have played since before Christmas," Dennis said.
