'Love, Loss, What I Wore' opens Big Noise season
The Big Noise Theatre Company in Des Plaines will open the 2016 season with "Love, Loss, and What I Wore," an intimate collection of stories written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron - the writers who gave us the hit films "Sleepless in Seattle," "When Harry Met Sally" and "You've Got Mail".
Based on the best-seller by Ilene Beckerman, the show uses clothing and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories. As Charles Isherwood said in his New York Times review, "the show is a scrapbook of stories about unfortunate prom dresses, the traumatic lighting in fitting rooms, high heels, short skirts and the existential state of having nothing to wear. Accessorizing these tales - which are mostly comic but often sad or sentimental too - are the mothers who disapprove, the men who disappear (and) the sisters who've got your back."
"Love, Loss, and What I Wore" will perform Jan. 15-31 at Prairie Lakes Theater, 515 W. Thacker St., Des Plaines on the following dates and times: 8 p.m. Jan 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30; 3 p.m. Jan 17, 20, 23, 24, 30, 31.
Tickets are $25-$30 and are available at www.bignoisetheatre.org. To reserve tickets by phone, call (847) 604-0275. Group rates also available. Big Noise Theatre Company is a division of Winnetka Theatre.
A cast of six women will take the audience on a journey through life and love via a woman's wardrobe: Beverly Coscarelli, Chicago; Becca Duff, Oak Park; Nicola Howard, Glenview; Carmen R. Lawrence, Chicago; Julie Stevens, Deerfield; and Hannah Williams, Chicago.
