No. 23 Michigan State women beat No. 16 Northwestern 74-51

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Aerial Powers recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds to help No. 23 Michigan State cruise past No. 16 Northwestern 74-51 on Sunday.

Powers has 40 career double-doubles, which puts her alone in second place in program history. She trails MSU Hall of Famer Mary Kay Intyre (1978-80) by three.

Tori Jankoska had 12 points to finish in double figures for the 15th time this season for Michigan State (12-3, 3-1 Big Ten).

Nia Coffey had 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for Northwestern (12-4, 1-3), which made just 18 of 66 field-goal attempts (27 percent).

Michigan State went on a 9-2 run to open the second quarter for an 11-point lead. Northwestern only made one field goal in the last four minutes of the half as Michigan State closed on an 11-3 run for a 42-24 lead. Northwestern was held to just 9-of-36 shooting.
