Images: Icons of Huntley

What is the first thing you think of when you think of Huntley? One icon is Del Webb Sun City, which is the largest retirement community in the Midwest.

Another is the beautiful, modern library and the municipal center.

History is still evident in the original downtown square and on North Woodstock Street, where century old paver bricks lead to the home of Thomas Huntley, the founder of the town of almost 25,000. Some may think of the Dairy Mart, where heaping scoops of ice cream have been dished since 1955.

Look for a new “Icons of ...” town gallery every Sunday at dailyherald.com/galleries and on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. On our social media sites, share your favorite Huntley photos with us by using #shareyoursuburb.

And tell us what photos are your favorites. Which ones stir a memory for you? Where do you love to go in town?
