Body of 4th man recovered from southern Wisconsin lake

EAST TROY, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of the last of four Illinois men who went missing after a canoe accident at a southern Wisconsin lake.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the body of 21-year-old Patrick Wetzel was pulled Friday from Mill Lake, which is about 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee. The bodies of three other young men were found earlier this week.

DNR recreational safety warden Jason Roberts says the investigation is ongoing, but that the search for victims is over.

The four friends, ages 20 to 23, were reported missing Sunday. State officials say the men left a lake house where they were spending the weekend and apparently took a canoe out on the lake in the middle of the night.

The canoe was spotted later Sunday morning overturned in the lake.

This story has been corrected to show the victim's first name is Patrick, not Peter, based on corrected information from the DNR.
