Duckworth joins residents at nonprofit Feed My Starving Children's NYE event

Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat from Hoffman Estates, spent her New Year's Eve with service-minded 8th District residents volunteering in the fight against global child hunger and assembling packages of nutritionally enriched dry meals which are used by international charities and service organizations to feed starving, malnourished children for as long as seven months per package.

"No child should ever go to sleep hungry or malnourished, and I am humbled to join so many selfless individuals spending their New Year's Eve giving a little back and helping fight childhood hunger," said congresswoman Duckworth. "Having relied on food stamps as a teenager, hunger is a deeply personal issue for me and one I have long worked to eliminate. I am grateful for the work of everyone here tonight and to all those who volunteer their time on the front lines in this fight."
