Reel life: Spend an evening with Hitchcock

• He's still the Master of Suspense! Join us at Dann & Raymond's Movie Club for "A Good Evening With Alfred Hitchcock," 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. • The After Hours Film Society presents "Meet the Patels," a romantic, comic documentary about a twenty-something Indian-American caught between the woman he loves and his parents. It's at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the Ogden 6 Theaters, 1227 E. Ogden Ave., Naperville. Guest speaker Tim Bates will introduce the movie. General admission $10, $6 for members. • The new Art@York program continues with a screening of the comedy "Learning to Drive" at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the York Theatre, 150 N. York St., Elmhurst. Admission costs $6.50 matinee ($5 for seniors), $9 for the evening show. Go to classiccinemas.com.

• Cameron Crowe's "Jerry Maguire" turns 20 this year, so the Chicago Film Critics Association is presenting it as part of the Classic Cinemas' Critics Classic Series 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Elk Grove Theatre, 1050 Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village.

The popular film series now shows on the second Wednesday of each month. Admission is $6. Tickets available at the box office or at classiccinemas.com.

• We don't normally post news about movies being shown at institutions of higher learning, but where else will you get the opportunity to hear a bunch of geophysical and planetary scientists talk about Ridley Scott's "The Martian," one of my top 10 movies of 2015?
