Sign up for spring classes at CLC

There is still time to register for spring semester classes at the College of Lake County, which begin the week of Jan. 19.

On two Saturdays, Jan. 9 and 16, staff from admissions, advising, financial aid and the bookstore can assist you from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grayslake, Lakeshore (Waukegan) and Southlake (Vernon Hills) campuses.

Regular office hours for the week of Jan. 11-15 are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Anyone unsure about what career to pursue can learn more at free information sessions. Each session lasts about an hour and includes an overview of the career field, salary, job outlook and educational requirements. No RSVP is required.

View a schedule of information sessions by academic division at www.clcillinois.edu/infosessions. Or, if you want to complete short-term training to become a truck driver, real estate agent, pharmacy technician or veterinary technician, view a list of Continuing Professional Development programs and information sessions at www.clcillinois.edu/professional.

CLC also offers an array of noncredit, personal enrichment courses on topics such as fitness, music, computers, writing, dance, history, cooking, jewelry making and more for students of all ages. To learn more, call (847) 543-2615 or visit www.clcillinois.edu/personalenrichment.

Those who need to complete a GED (high school equivalency), learn English as a Second Language or build basic competency in reading, writing and math, CLC's Adult Basic Education division offers free courses at all three campuses and other Lake County locations that also begin in January. To learn more, call (847) 543-2021, visit www.clcillinois.edu/adulted or email adulteducation@clcillinois.edu. Or visit Building 4 on the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

The college will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the new semester begins the following day. From Jan. 19-21 at the Grayslake Campus, extra staff will be posted at entrances to help students locate their classrooms.

Because of Sustainable Master Plan construction, including a new cafe and remodeling of the A Wing, students must use alternate routes around areas closed off for construction.

For information on enrolling at CLC, call (847) 543-2090 or visit the E Building on the Grayslake Campus. To view spring course offerings and learn more about how to become a student, visit www.clcillinois.edu/spring. Late-starting spring classes are also available.
