Wilson returns, leads Hoffman Estates to victory

After tweaking her knee and missing the last quarter and half against Hersey on Tuesday night, Monraia Wilson was back in action Wednesday night and showed no signs of the injury.

The junior guard connected for a game-high 24 points to help lead host Hoffman Estates to a 53-39 triumph over Streamwood in the nonconference girls basketball game.

Teammate Erin Hanson added 11 points, followed by Tayler Williams (8) and Mynk Richardson-Clerk (6).

Wilson had four 3-pointers and Williams added 2 for the Hawks.

"We didn't play great, but good enough," said Hawks coach Mike Koester, whose team improved to 8-9.

St. Viator 48, Fenton 28: Coming off a championship in its own Blenner Holiday Classic, St. Viator improved to 8-9 with a win in the Fenton tournament.

Sophomore guard Olivia Solimene scored a team-high 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

The Lions raced to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Sophomores Haley Robinson added 8 points and Myia Clark 7.

Wheeling 46, Highland Park 32: The visiting Wildcats (7-10) received a game-high 15 points from junior forward Melissa Claver and 9 from sophomore guard Nansy Velev in the nonconference contest.

Nosa Igiehon and Shannon Kennedy each chipped in 6 points for the Wildcats.
