Rotary Club Sponsors Pet Food / Pet Supplies Drive

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods is sponsoring a Pet Food / Pet Supplies drive from January 1st, 2016 to February 15th, 2016. The event benefits two local pet charities, Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center, Palatine, and Foster 2 Home, Arlington Heights. The first charity deals exclusively with cats, and the second, exclusively with dogs.

Donation Boxes have been set up at participating Villages and local area merchants including:

RE/MAX Suburban / Marilyn Dopler, Arlington Heights (Arl. Hts. Road and Palatine Road); Village of Hawthorn Woods, Village Hall, (Old McHenry Road); Village of Kildeer, Village Hall, (Quentin Road); Village of Long Grove, Village Hall (Old McHenry Road); Jewel, Lake Zurich (Ela Road); Jewel, Lake Zurich (Rand Road and Rt. 22); Edward Jones / Sean T. Dwyer, Lake Zurich (Rand Road); Jewel, Palatine (Plum Grove Road); Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center, Palatine (Quentin Road)

Barb's Precious Rescue is a relative newcomer to the Northwest suburbs, opening in September, 2014. In their first year of operation, they placed nearly 190 cats in forever homes. Viewing and adoptions are available on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and Saturdays, from 9 AM to Noon. Foster 2 Home has been in the area for a while, and operates using a foster home model. In just a short time, they have rescued over 900 dogs. Select dogs may be viewed at Petsmart in Mt. Prospect, at Randhurst, Saturdays, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Additional information may be found at their website at www.foster2homeinc.org.

Both pet charities are always in need of additional volunteers. Volunteer applications may be found on their respective web sites. In addition to food donations, each charity has a list of other supplies they are in need of on their websites.

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods meets Tuesday mornings at 7:15 AM, at Village BBQ and Pizza, in downtown Long Grove. Prospective members are always welcome. Additional information is available at www.RCLG.org.
