Safety measures for migratory birds

Creating safer passages for migratory birds is the topic at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, for the next Green Drinks Libertyville program. Annette Prince, director of Chicago Bird Collision Monitors, will discuss the migration of birds that can travel thousands of miles while navigating obstacles to seek winter refuge. After habitat loss, bird collisions with buildings is ranked as the second greatest threat to bird populations. Prince will discuss simple efforts and methods to protect migratory species from the hazards at home and in the community. Chicago Bird Collision Monitors is a conservation project working since 2003 to raise awareness, educate and advocate for bird safety measures. Green Drinks Libertyville is presented every second Tuesday of the month at O'Toole's of Libertyville, 412 N. Milwaukee Ave.
