Indian American community to celebrate India's Republic Day

For more than two decades, Indian American community has been celebrating India's Republic Day at the beginning of the New year. In that tradition, the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) is organizing a gala colorful program to commemorate India's 67th Republic Day Celebration festivity on January 24, 2016 (Sunday) at Ashton Place, 341 75th Street, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Dazzling cultural events are being scheduled.

To arrange this event, FIA, a leading Indian American umbrella organization of Illinois, elected its 2016 executive board at its Annual Meeting held recently at Waterford Banquets in Elmhurst.

In presence of several community leaders and members of different associations, Sunil Shah and Onkar Singh Sangha, founder and former presidents, announced the following line up of officers:

Dhitu Bhagwakar, President; Mukesh Shah and Neil Khot, Executive Vice Presidents; Moon Khan, Shital Daftari, Manjeet Bhalla, Ali Khan, and Hitesh Gandhi, Vice Presidents; Khaja Moinuddin, Secretary; Shalini Saxena, Joint Secretary; Payal Shah, Treasurer. Directors will be Ninad Daftari and Mona Bhalla.

While welcoming the new board members, the newly elected president, Dhitu Bhagwakar, briefly outlined the importance of working together.

"New year brings new hope and fresh challenges," Bhagwakar said. "Fortunately, we are prepared with new talents and renewed energy."
