Bensenville distributes coats, toys to those in need

Hundreds of families from Bensenville are a little warmer and had gifts to put under the tree this holiday season after the village's 45th Annual Toy Drive and Rotary Coat Drive.

More than 500 toys and 300 coats were distributed this holiday season, officials said.

Toy, coat and food donations were collected throughout November and December at several community locations. The village also collects nonperishable food items that are donated to the Bensenville/Wood Dale Food Pantry.

"Bensenville is a tight-knit community full of great people, businesses and service organizations who really care about one another and work together to help those in need," Village President Frank Soto said.

The village also received donations from businesses and civic organizations, including ABC Bank, Agility Logistics, Bensenville Chamber of Commerce, Bensenville Senior Citizen Club, Century Metal Spinning, Fenton Student Council, Hair Shapers, Jewel-Osco, Purolator, Roesch Ford, Teamster Horsemen Motorcycle Association and Just In Time Staffing.
