Longtime community champion's contributions overlooked

Well, Daily Herald, you've done it again!

In a recent Neighbor section's "They Made a Difference" article, you once again missed the opportunity to give recognition to one of the Palatine/Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates greatest humanitarians, Carl Zdeb.

After Carl died on May 12, I searched the Daily Herald on a daily basis looking for an article about his many contributions to the area high schools, Rotarians, the United Way and countless individuals who were in need of someone to champion their causes. Alas, no such article ever appeared.

So that was when I wrote a letter to the editor of the Daily Herald in hopes that perhaps that missed opportunity might be corrected with a long overdue article. My letter appeared almost a month later, but again no article ever appeared.

When I opened today's paper and saw in the Neighbor section the article, "They Made A Difference," I was certain that the Daily Herald would finally have corrected their omission.

Once again I was sorely disappointed. Well, Daily Herald, while you have managed to ignore the passing of this great man, we who knew him want his wife, Dodie, and the rest of his family to know that he has not been forgotten by us.

His memory lives on as do the many good deeds that he accomplished in his lifetime.

He most certainly made a difference!
