5 ideas for the first weekend of 2016

Start your engines

Check out a wide variety of one-of-a-kind snowmobiles — some dating back 92 years — at the new snowmobile exhibit at the Volo Auto Museum, 27582 Volo Village Road, Volo. Snowmobiles from the 1920s to the 1980s are showcased. Admission is $8.95-$14.95; free for military in uniform and kids under age 5. Lighting up Lisle

Don't miss Illumination as the light exhibit wraps up its holiday run Saturday at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Route 53, Lisle. The exhibit mixes programmed lighting, projections, interactive elements, music and the beauty of nature along a one-mile path in the woods. Tickets $11-$17 for nonmembers. Laugh it up

See comedian Adam Ferrara of TV's “Rescue Me” as he continues a standup comedy gig this weekend at the Improv Comedy Showcase at Woodfield Mall, 5 Woodfield Road, Schaumburg. $22 plus a two-item purchase. Belated bash

Keep the New Year's Eve vibe going when the rock group Mr. Blotto headlines at Mr. Blotto's Procrastinators Ball at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles.
