Norridge man dies in Des Plaines crash

A 65-year-old Norridge man died Monday after a two-vehicle crash in Des Plaines that may have been a result of the icy weather that day, police said.

John M. Moskal was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m. Dec. 28, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He died as a result of a multiple blunt force injuries and the death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner's office reported.

A preliminary investigation showed that a Ford Escape driven by Moskal was traveling southeast on Rand Road when it lost control and slid into oncoming northwest-bound lanes, where it was struck by a Ford pickup truck at 12:46 p.m., Des Plaines police said.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered only minor injuries and was released at the scene.

Though the crash may have been a result of severe weather, it remained under investigation Wednesday, police said. No citations have been issued.
