Dunkin' Donuts OKs plan for Sugar Grove store, village says

Dunkin' Brands corporation has given the go-ahead for a franchisee to build a Dunkin' Donuts store in Sugar Grove, Village President Sean Michels says.

But the developer of the site and the property's owner haven't completed a deal yet for the property.

If they come to terms, the store would be built on the west side of Route 47, north of the Walgreens store at Galena Boulevard.

"We remain hopeful construction will begin in 2016," said Walter Magdiarz, the village's community development director.

Michels said he has been told the new store will use a design meant to encourage patrons to linger. There will be armchairs, a bar top area for customers to use laptop and tablet computers, and electrical outlets for them to power their devices. The design debuted in 2013; the Dunkin' Donuts on Route 38 in St. Charles features it.

Corporate and franchisee officials could not be reached for comment.

Michels also reported that several other businesses are coming to the village.

L.A. Tan is moving into the Sugar Grove Center shopping center off Route 47 and Galena Boulevard. Verizon is opening a store next to Jimmy John's.

There are plans to build a gasoline station and a bar on the west side of Route 47 across from Waubonsee Community College, Michels said.
