Families compete in wacky game show at Wauconda library

It was Team Dark Side vs. Team Minnie Mouse during the Wacky Team Challenge Game Show at the Wauconda Area Library on Tuesday.

Entertainer Brian Wismer guided about 25 children and adults in contests of trivia and zany physical challenges that included dance-offs and hula hoop limbo.

"I do a lot of wacky, crazy relays that all have fitness in mind with movement and play," said Wismer, a former Ringling Bros. Circus clown. "It is fun and high energy. A lot of craziness and zaniness. Everything we do is about 85 percent successful so everyone can do it."

The show began with trivia questions asking about such things as the number one toy and chocolate this year. The answers are Lego and Hershey Chocolate Bar.

Then adults got involved with their kids in a strange game of heads and tails as they touched their heads or their bottoms guessing how a flipped coin would end up.

"I think it's great. I brought my granddaughter here and it gets us out of the house and gives us something to do," Harriet Erickson of Spring Grove said after dancing to "The Chicken Dance" with her 6-year-old granddaughter, JoAn Murphy.
