$100 to help ease strain of daughter's medical needs

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Stacy DeVore of Arlington Heights.

Here is an excerpt of her story:

"My friend Jen from Arlington Heights is a single mom raising two girls, ages 7 and 9. Her 9-year-old daughter missed four months of school last year because she was suffering with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. A few weeks ago, Jen took her to get a blood test and got the worst news ever. Her daughter now has leukemia.

"Jen works full-time and has really been struggling with the cost of driving to the city and parking at the hospital several times a week, and paying for things that her health insurance doesn't cover. Her daughter is one of the sweetest little girls I have ever known and they are all being very strong, but I know she could really use an extra $100."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
