$100 to brighten holidays for out-of-work friend

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Jane Charmelo of Lombard.

Here is an excerpt of her story:

"My friend Sue lost her job and was not eligible for unemployment. She has searched every day for a job for many months but so far, no success. Local agencies can't help. Her son recently lost his job, too, so household income is wiped out.

"She recently had to pay for expensive medication, needs repairs on her old house and has a sister out-of-state who is ill. She is always thinking of others and could really use the $100 to help make Christmas a little brighter for her family, or for gas to visit her sister."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
