Lisle wins in a rout

After a double-overtime game Friday night, it wasn't such a bad thing for Lisle to have an easy girls basketball game Saturday night.

The Lions got in a good run in their South Gym, dispatching Holy Trinity 56-11 in nonconference action.

"Tonight was good," Lisle coach Nick Balaban said. "... For us it was an opportunity to get everybody to play, to get everybody minutes. But there were still good things from everybody."

The Lions (8-2) host their annual Lisle Holiday Cage Classic starting Saturday. The Lions, seeded sixth, open with 11th-seeded Newark.

"They're good. They're on a roll right now," Balaban said of Newark.

TyAnn Legrand-Melton led Lisle with 12 points, and Anna Palicka came off the bench to score 10 points. Melissa Ericson scored 9, all in the first half, for her best total of the season.

"She does all the things you want as a coach," Balaban said. "She sets good screens, she makes good passes. For her size she rebounds well. She's been a constant for us all season long. ... She doesn't have to score a single point for her to contribute to our success."
