Generous donors give to the Bartlett library

A generous donation from Al and Marie Herzfeld is helping the Bartlett Public Library District welcome the holiday spirit this year.

The Herzfelds recently donated a total of $2,000 to the Bartlett Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library, $1,000 going to each group.

"During the holiday time, you kind of review life and see what's important to you," Al said. "We all give out different gift certificates to others, but sometimes people forget about the important organizations. You know, I think we all remember what it was like to get our first library card. It was very, very fun, and came with a certain joy."

The donation they made is in honor of Al's aunt and uncle who have passed away recently. The two of them were involved in education their whole lives.

"(Education) was so important to them, and what a great way to keep people reading and educating themselves than by helping out the library," Al said.

For about 13 years, the Herzfelds have been Bartlett residents, using the Bartlett Public Library to take advantage of its materials and services that it offers.

"I like what the library's done with the digital age," Al said. "I think the library's done a good job of staying relevant with the downloadable items, and also everything they are doing for the younger generation."
