St. Charles Singles Club plans winter events
The St. Charles Singles Club activities are planned, and singles, 40 or older, are invited to participate in the fun. There are many opportunities to meet friends for meals, to try new cuisines, to dance, bowl, play cards, volunteer, and more. Join members at El Molcajete Restaurant, 227 S. Third St. in Geneva, for the next "Foreign Flavors Dinner" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13. No reservations needed. Each attendee orders and pays for his/her individual meal. For information, call Linda at (847) 312-6622.
On Mondays, Jan. 18 and Feb. 15, enjoy lunch and bowling at Pinstripes, Routes 72 and 59, South Barrington. Cost is $12 for pizza lunch, bowling and bocce ball. No reservations needed. For details, call Dianne at (815) 459-7484.
The club is also hosting Candlelight Bowling at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Wheaton Bowl, 2031 N. Gary Ave., Wheaton. Cost is $19 and includes pizza buffet, salad, cookies, shoe rental, prizes, as well as three games of bowling (two regular and one "crazy"). For those not bowling, cost is $11. The last day to sign up is Monday, Jan. 25. Reservations and prepayment are necessary; contact Linda at (630) 234-4339.
Join volunteers for Northern Illinois Food Bank, 273 Dearborn Court in Geneva, at 8:45 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 21 and Feb. 18. To volunteer, call Carl, (630) 360-6769.
Dancing at Villa Olivia, 1401 Lake St. in Bartlett, is scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m., with music provided by DJ Fast Freddy. Members pay $6, visitors $10. Dance lessons will be offered at 6:30 p.m. for $3 per person. There are a couple of themed dances planned this winter. On Jan. 25, the theme will be "Super Bowl Shuffle." On Feb. 29, there will be a live band for the "Leap Year Dance." For the February dance, the cost will be $8 for members and $12 for visitors. There will be no dance lessons on Feb. 29. Dressy casual attire requested, dressy jeans are allowed.
