$100 toward therapy for friend with MS

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Katherine Nakis of Carol Stream.

Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I would like to give $100 to my friend Betsy LaScala. She is 50 and has multiple sclerosis.

"Her partner, Cindy, has been able to manage her care until Betsy was hospitalized with a blood clot in her lung and WAS in a Marianjoy for a month. Betsy now needs 24-hour care and is confined to a wheelchair. She has recently been denied Medicaid and her insurance only pays for 17 therapy visits a year.

"Cindy is currently looking for a long-term facility for Betsy because she has to work. This money would help with therapy."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else. Submit your idea in 150 words or fewer at events.dailyherald.com/believe-project.
