Forest preserve police chief to lead association

John Tannahill, the top safety officer for the Lake County Forest Preserve District, has been elected to head the Lake County Chiefs of Police Association in 2016. Before being elected to the one-year term, he had served as the LCCPA's vice-president, secretary and treasurer. The association is a 200-member alliance of chiefs, deputy chiefs, and command officers designed to foster personal and professional leadership development within the law enforcement community by sharing resources, training, use of technological innovations, and creating and supporting community partnerships. Tannahill joined the Lake County Forest Preserve District as chief in 2007 and was promoted to director of public safety in 2015.
