Kids flock to candy canes and Santa in Lake Zurich

Hundreds of children eager for holidays sweets filled Lion Fred Blau Park on Sunday for the Lake Zurich Lions Club's 9th annual candy cane hunt.

Along with regular candy canes, some lucky kids found special canes good for additional prizes. Fancy Faces of Wauconda provided face painting, the Lions Club offered refreshments and after the hunt children visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

A food collection also was held, with participants receiving a chance to win a 2016 Alpine Fest prize package by donating three or more canned goods.
