Police make arrest in Darien Walmart shooting
Darien police have arrested a Downers Grove man with the Thursday's shooting of a man at a Wal-Mart store in the town.
The 20-year-old man was arrested Friday in Chicago with the help of the U.S. Marshal Service, Darien police said in news release.
Charges are pending, police said. Darien Deputy Police Chief John Cooper said in an email Saturday night the man will likely be charged in the in the next 24 hours.
Three to five shots were fired at the victim who was hit in the shoulder inside the store at 2189 75th St., police said. The shooter fled the scene. Nobody else was injured. The victim's injuries were not believed to be life threatening. Police said he is stable at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Police followed "some pretty solid leads," according to Cooper, that developed from interviewing shoppers who witnessed the shooting and watching store surveillance footage.
