Harper's Chartier named first team All-American

Harper College libero Meghan Chartier has been named to the first team of the NJCAA Division III All-American women's volleyball team.

The 5-foot-2 sopohmore was one of two North Central Community College Conference representatives on the team.

Chartier led the country with 809 digs, 14 of which came in the Hawks' Region IV tournament quarterfinal win over Milwaukee Area Technical College. Her 46 aces ranked her 80th nationally.

• In men's soccer, Harper forward Niko Mihalopoulos earned second team NJCAA All-American acclaim. Mihalopoulos ranked in the top 50 in three individual stats, including shots taken (59, 10th) and goals (11, 39th).

• Hawks cross country coach Jim Macnider was named Men's Central Region Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), to go with the national coach of the year honors he's already won. In his five seasons guiding the Harper College men's team, the Hawks have captured the national crown each time.

Will Troman, who won the individual title at the NJCAA Region IV meet, was named USTFCCCA men's Central Region Athlete of the Year.

• Harper College men's basketball standout Allias Burnett was named NJCAA Region IV Division III Player of the Week in the Region IV Report that was released Monday. In a pre-Thanksgiving game. The sophomore scored 22 points, adding 6 rebounds with 4 assists and 3 steals against Daley College.
