The Albright Theatre Company will hold auditions for "Other Desert Cities" by Jon Robin Baitz at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, and Monday, Jan. 4, at the Batavia Government Center, 100 N. Island Ave., Batavia. The Albright Theatre is located on the third floor of the Batavia government building.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Callbacks may be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. (by invitation only).

Nominated for five Tony Awards, including best play, "Other Desert Cities" is a scathingly funny, heart-wrenching look at a family torn apart by a secret. After years away, Brook Wyeth returns to her parents' Palm Springs home with a time bomb, the manuscript of her latest work. It is a memoir which reveals a devastating episode in the life of her wealthy family. Brook is still emotionally ravaged by these events but she is not the only one still affected. They disturbed the upbringing of Brook's younger brother, opened a schism between her mother and her aunt, and shattered the orderly lives of her parents, causing their ostracism from an intimate circle of friends. Can revealing the truth finally set this family free?

Casting will be for two men (late 20s to 70s) and three women (30s to 60s).

• Brook Wyeth: The intelligent, tortured and dry-witted middle child of the Wyeth family. She is old enough to have solid memories of the events that took place, but young enough to perhaps misinterpret them. (mid 30s-40s)

• Polly Wyeth: The tough, elegant, forthright and whipsmart matriarch of the Wyeth family. She will do whatever it takes to keep up appearances. (late 50s to 60s)

• Trip Wyeth:A bright, funny, TV producer. Trip is the youngest of the Wyeth children and was a baby during the events that devastated the family. He has little to no memory of what actually took place.

• Lyman Wyeth: A former actor, Lyman is sturdy, gentle, dignified and very firm in his beliefs. In both Lyman and Polly there is an aura of old Hollywood. (60s to early 70s)

• Silda Grauman: A bit of a loose cannon, Silda is the wise-cracking, just-out-of-rehab mess of an aunt, but she is also bestowed with a wealth of savvy wisdom. (60s)

Performances will be Feb. 26-28, March 4-6, and 12-13. Rated PG-13. For updates or information, contact the Albright Theatre Company at (630) 406-8838, or visit www.albrighttheatre.com, or follow them on Twitter.

The rehearsal schedule will be determined by the director and is subject to the availability of the confirmed cast and crew. The Albright Theatre Company is a nonprofit organization that is membership driven and relies upon volunteer actors.
