$100 to help sister travel for cancer treatments

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Jill Lewaniak of Wheaton.

Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I would give the money to my sister, Becky Herbold. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer over a year ago.

"A non-smoker, she has spent her 44 years volunteering and helping others. Currently, she is co-president of Wheaton Junior Woman's Club and works hard for the Esse Center and raised money for Lung Force. She has chaired the Buddy Baseball program for disabled youth in our area for four years, caring for each player's needs.

"She needs care now. Her cancer has no cure. There are therapies that help her, but they are expensive and she needs to travel frequently to Detroit.

"This money could give her hope and help her pay for these much-needed trips to get her chemotherapy."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else. If you'd like the chance to help someone, submit your idea for consideration in 150 words or fewer at events.dailyherald.com/believe-project.
