Chicago police: Man steals van with 2-year-old girl inside

CHICAGO (AP) - A man has been arrested after leading Chicago police officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle with a 2-year-old girl inside.

Police say the chase started around 8:50 p.m. Sunday after the man jumped into a van that another man had left running outside a business in the Little Village neighborhood with the child in the back seat. The suspect was arrested when officers stopped the stolen van more than six miles away in the Logan Square neighborhood.

A squad car assisting in the pursuit was involved in a minor crash with another vehicle. Two officers and a man driving the other vehicle were treated for injuries that aren't considered to be life-threatening.

The girl was taken in good condition to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

Charges were pending against the suspect early Monday.
