Sheriff investigating 'suspicious deaths' of Beach Park mother, son
A person of interest is in custody in connection with what Lake County sheriff's officials are calling the "suspicious deaths" of a Beach Park woman and her teenage son. Sheriff's deputies who were called to a home on the 10200 block of West Bairstow Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Sunday found Lailani Uy Trejo, 43, and Patrick K. Cruz Uy, 14, dead inside with "obvious signs of significant trauma to their bodies," according to a statement from Sheriff's Det. Christopher Covelli. Full story.

Glen Ellyn-area fire under investigation
Authorities are investigating a house fire that occurred Sunday evening on the 2N400 block of Euclid Avenue near Glen Ellyn. There were injuries as a result of the blaze, but the number of people injured, as well as the severity of their injuries, was not disclosed. Full story.
Forest district's new vehicle produces no noise, no emissions
The Lake County Forest Preserve District's is deploying its first all-electric vehicle, which will be used by ranger police for patrols and searches. "The reason we went electrical is people go out on the trail to walk or ride their bike, they try to get away from noise," one official said. "It's the answer to everything." Full story.

Bulls taking on Spurs tonight
Pau Gasol was asked Sunday about turning down a chance to join the ever-successful San Antonio Spurs two years ago in free agency.
