McLean Boulevard work for one more week in Elgin

Work related to the building of an assisted living facility has been narrowing a busy stretch of McLean Boulevard in Elgin.

The road work just south of Wing Street is expected to wrap up by Monday, possibly sooner, city engineering inspector Kathryn Edwards said.

The Sheridan at Tyler Creek, also known as The Sheridan at Elgin, 508 North McLean Boulevard, is expected to open next summer, according to its website.

The building, on the west side of the street, required a connection to the water main one the east side, so the road is closed to one lane in each direction during the day, Edwards said.

The contractor - under Elgin's supervision - poured concrete Monday and next will be adding a 4-inch layer of hot asphalt mix, she said.
