Streamwood, a village of almost 40,000 residents in the far Northwest reaches of Cook County, is a mostly quiet community that doesn't attract a lot of attention. Streamwood government is known for its political stability and professionalism. It's had the same mayor, Billie Roth, since 1989.
The town is 66 percent white, but has a significant minority population, with 28 percent identifying as Hispanic and 15 percent as Asian, the latter percentage having almost doubled in a decade. The median age is 35 and the median annual household income was $71,300 as of several years ago.
We roamed around Streamwood, taking photos of things that caught our eye. Big and small, obvious and obscure, the images are identifiable to Streamwood. Visual delights include the expansive and ornate veterans memorial, winding streets, woods, lakes, streams.
