Libertyville finishes 3-1 at Maine West

Libertyville got 13 points from Drew Peterson and 8 from Paul Steinhaus and Christian Nastoff in a 64-39 over Chicago Math and Science Charter on Saturday in boys basketball tournament play at Maine West.

The Wildcats finished with a 3-1 record to take second place in the tournament under first-year coach Brent Mork.

Maine South later defeated Maine West to wrap up the title.

Libertyville held Math and Science to single-digit scoring in both of the the first two quarters and led 37-14 at the half.

Steinhaus and Jabari Quigley both made a pair of 3s for the Wildcats.

Stevenson 63, Glenbard South 46: Patriots senior guard Ryuji Aoki scored 17 points, and Justin Smith (16) and Willie Herenton (11) also scored in double figures to help the Patriots prevail 63-46 against Glenbard South in tournament play at Lyons.

The Patriots (3-1) trailed by 6 points after the first half before outscoring the Raiders 35-12 in the second.

Vernon Hills 48, Leyden 44: The Cougars withstood a 19-point effort from Leyden in the fourth quarter to earn a tournament-ending victory at Northridge Prep.

Michael Dougherty, who made the all-tournament team, led Vernon Hills with 13 points and Tanner Tolari had three 3-pointers and finished with 11.

The Cougars (3-1) took control by holding Leyden to 5 points in the third quarter.

Senior guard Adrian Guerrero led Leyden with 13 points, 9 of them in the fourth quarter, and senior center DeAndre Williams had 10.

Lakes 51, Richmond Burton 50: Lakes won its third game in a row to finish 3-1 in the Richmond/Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament and claim a third-place finish.

Jack Christensen led the Eagles with 17 points ,while Colton Jewell and Kyle Rohr chipped in with 11 apiece.

Marmion 52, Grayslake Central 48: Sam Ruhlmann popped for a game-high 28 points but was the only Rams scorer in double figures as they completed a 2-2 tournament effort at Buffalo Grove.

Matt Fletcher (15 points), Hunter Weber (12) and Mick Sullivan (11) paced Marmion. All of Weber's points came on 3s.

Ruhlmann finished with three 3s and had nine 2-point field goals. Jack Beckman and Justin Sheply had 6 points apiece for the Rams.
