Open house and art sale at Alpaca farm in Campton Hills
Waldron Grove Alpaca Farm in Campton Hills hosted its first Christmas open house and alpaca art sale Saturday. Farm owner and fiber artist Susan Neri-Waldron held the event, which featured fiber arts handmade by herself and fellow artists Laurie McGee of St. Charles and Anita Riemer of Palatine.
Shoppers had a wide selection of scarves, clothing, gloves, mittens, original artwork and paintings to browse through, all made with fibers from the farm's alpacas. There were also kits to learn the art of felting, which is what drew Marianne Zeman of St. Charles to the sale. Zeman, who is a knitter, said she was inspired to give felting a try after recently seeing a presentation by Neri-Waldron. Jeanette Baker of St. Charles came to purchase a specific scarf made by McGee she's been wanting to get for months. As soon as she bought it, she draped the vertical patterned scarf with purple tones around her neck and continued shopping with her family.
"We've had a very, very good turn out, so it's been lots of fun," said Neri-Waldron.
The farm also has spring and fall open houses. For information on them or alpaca art, visit www.susanwaldronart.com.
