'Traditional' Black Friday for Carol Stream woman

When it comes to Black Friday, there's new wave and there's classic.

Tracey Frye of Carol Stream chose classic.

At 4:30 a.m. Frye and her daughter and best friend headed out to bargain-hunt briefly at Carson's and then at their main destination: Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora.

"We didn't go in the middle of the night," Frye said. "We decided to spend time with family and then go out early this morning like the traditional Black Friday."

By 11 a.m., the gals were browsing at Old Navy, packing their second load of shopping bags full of deals after already cramming the car with a first round gifts from the Disney Store and Gap Factory.

There found sales aplenty, but Vera Bradley was the highlight of their shopping spree, Frye said.

"We picked up travel bags, water bottles and small purses," she said.
