Palatine Residents Go Above and Beyond to Support Food Drive

After 12 years, the residents and businesses of Palatine have shown no desire to scale back their generosity in helping those less fortunate. The 12th annual Palatine Food drive sponsored by Lavelle Law Charities concluded a seven week run on November 20th with donations that once again exceeded prior levels.

More than two dozen Lavelle Law employees and volunteers were joined by Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz and State Senators Laura Murphy (D - 28th) and Julie Morrison (D - 29th) to collect, load and deliver donations from eighteen drop-off locations to the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Palatine Food Drive Coordinator Jackie Lindert estimated that the project generated twice as many donations as last year. "We are amazed and grateful to the entire community of Palatine for supporting our annual initiative to assist families in need in this immediate area," said Lindert.

Those sentiments were echoed by Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson. "Lavelle Law has been a tireless partner in collecting food for the Township Food Pantry," said Langlotz-Johnson. She noted that "Over 350 families served by our Township Pantry will be able to give extra thanks this year" due to the efforts of everyone involved in the Food Drive.

With donations now stored for the months ahead Lindert said that plans for the 2016 Palatine Food Drive will start taking shape before too long. "It is a long process but we have so many great business and governmental partners throughout Palatine who always allow us to place donation boxes that contributing is not only easy but has become a tradition for many families. We look forward to doing our part again next year."
