Dubai's Dnata buys stake in Brazil airport services firm RM

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - The company that runs Dubai-based airline Emirates says it has bought a majority stake in a Brazilian firm that provides ground handling services at two dozen airports in the South American country.

The Emirates Group's air services arm Dnata said Wednesday its deal to buy a controlling stake in RM Ground Services is the division's first acquisition in South America. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Recife-based RM has 2,100 employees and serves 400 flights a day. Its customers include GOL, AZUL, Avianca and TAM Airlines. Dnata says it will rebrand the company with its name and keep all existing staff on the payroll.

Dnata has made several international acquisitions in recent years and now operates at 79 airports worldwide.
