How can cocktails and slick cars enhance cardiovascular services at Sherman?

Elgin, Ill. - Advocate Sherman Hospital and Brilliance Subaru have partnered for a community kickoff at the Elgin dealership to celebrate Advocate Health Care's selection as one of 18 local organizations to benefit from the Chicago Auto Show's upcoming First Look for Charity event.

The kickoff event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the dealership, 1500 N. Randall Road. During the event, complimentary cocktails and appetizers will be served, and attendees will learn more about the how the Advocate Heart Institute at Sherman Hospital will benefit from the funds raised during First Look for Charity on Feb. 12, 2016.

Tickets for the First Look for Charity event, which will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 12, at McCormick Place, cost $250, with $203 of each ticket sold going the purchase of a new intra-aortic balloon pump (a mechanical device that helps the heart pump blood) for cardiovascular services at Sherman Hospital. When purchasing tickets, remember to designate Sherman Hospital as the beneficiary.

The intra-aortic balloon pump is used to: assist the heart during or after a heart attack; assist the heart during or after a procedure to open a blocked artery, such as the placement of a coronary stent; and assist the heart during or after coronary artery bypass surgery.

First Look for Charity is the pre-opening, black-tie gala and preview event for the nation's largest auto show, and has raised more than $42 million for local charities over the last 24 years.

A $250 ticket includes entry to the pre-gala reception and event; a chance to win a 2016 Lincoln MKX or 2016 Jeep Renegade; free transportation from Sherman Hospital; and a $203 tax-deductible donation to the Advocate Charitable Foundation at Sherman Hospital.
