AP source: Greene promoted as Buffalo's athletic director

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press that the University at Buffalo has promoted Allen Greene to take over as the school's athletic director.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the school has not revealed the decision. University President Satish Tripathi is scheduled to formally make the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday.

Greene has been at Buffalo since 2012 and spent the past two years serving as the program's deputy director of athletics. He takes over for Danny White who was hired by Central Florida last week to become its AD.

White brought Greene with him to Buffalo in 2012 after the two previously worked together at Mississippi. Greene worked for the UMAA Foundation, the fundraising arm of Ole Miss Athletics.
