Marmion, Bartlett win openers

Marmion came out hot in its first game of the season, scoring 27 points in the first quarter and 50 by halftime in an 89-54 win over Christian Liberty Monday at the Buffalo Grove Tournament.

Hunter Weber scored 16 points to lead the Cadets. Mick Sullivan and Myles Schoonover both scored 13 points, and Mike Seraphin added 10.

Bartlett 66, Downers Grove North 56 (OT): Robby Jimenez scored 20 points for the Hawks, Tyler Pauletti had 15, Benjamin Reyes tallied 12 and Brett Awalt added 8 for the Hawks at the Wheaton Academy tournament.

Burlington Central 76, Sandwich 49: After a slow first quarter that ended tied at 9, the Rockets took the lead at halftime and then scored 50 points Monday at the Sycamore tournament.

Ryan Fitzgerald poured in 23 points and Zach Schutta added 11 for the Rockets, who made 8 of 10 free throws and had 10 players score.

Westminster Christian 71, Alden-Hebron 24: Dillon Rejman (13), Scott Graziano (10), Caleb Thomas (10) and Brad Backer (10) all scored in double figures for the victorious hosts at their Westminster Christian tournament.

Crystal Lake South 69, Richmond-Burton 58: Zach Geske scored 30 points in the Gators' win at the Richmond-Burton tournament.

Marian Central 63, Cary-Grove 50: The Trojans (0-1) lost at the Hoops for Healing tournament at Woodstock North despite 12 points from Daniel Schmidt and 11 from Adam Loch.
