Barrington holiday festival returns Dec. 5

Barrington's annual holiday event Dec. 5 will feature festivities all over town, including visits with Santa at four locations and a daylong open house at the Barrington White House.

At the Foundry Shopping Center there will be a Candy Cane Festival featuring a petting zoo, free reindeer antlers and tours of a Barrington fire truck. The Foundry will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Santa will be available for pictures from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Ice House Mall will be decked out as a Winter Wonderland, complete with a reading of the Nutcracker, a performance of the Nutcracker Ballet and a holiday parade at noon. The mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Santa will be available for pictures from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Shops on Lageschulte will be Gingerbread Lane, with sled dog demonstrations, and giant gingerbread people and candy canes. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Santa will be available for pictures from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The village center will feature madrigal singers at 4 p.m., carriage rides from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Santa will arrive on a fire truck at 5 p.m. and will be available for pictures until 6:30 p.m. The village center will be open from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
