Virginia Tech names new diversity leader

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia Tech has appointed an associate chancellor to develop a more welcoming campus and a more diverse student body and faculty.

Menah Pratt-Clarke is coming to Blacksburg from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was associate chancellor for strategic affairs and the associate provost for diversity.

At Tech, she was named the school's first vice provost for inclusion and diversity and vice president for strategic affairs.

The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/21aeZa1) reports that Pratt-Clarke will start work on Feb. 1.

Pratt-Clarke will hold a professorship in the school of education.

Pratt-Clarke received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Iowa. She also has law and doctoral degrees from Vanderbilt University.
