Jefferson, Hornets drop 76ers to 0-13

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Al Jefferson had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and the Charlotte Hornets put five players in double figures in a 113-88 victory over Philadelphia on Friday night that kept the 76ers winless.

The Sixers dropped to 0-13 and haven't won since last March 27. They have dropped 23 in a row overall and are nearing the NBA record for longest losing streak that they already share.

The Hornets, meanwhile, improved to 7-6, and are now 5-1 at home after winning their last five home contests.

Point guard Kemba Walker added 20 points and seven assists for Charlotte, which led by as much as 26.

Nerlens Noel led the Sixers with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the first game he has not started this season. Nik Stauskas added 15 points.

The Hornets jumped to an early, dominating lead thanks to the first-half performance of Jefferson. The 6-foot-10 center missed his first two attempts, but then sank six straight field goals. He led all players at halftime with 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

The Sixers battled back and sliced it to 11 with 1:06 left in the third quarter, but Charlotte rookie Frank Kaminsky had seven of the Hornets' next nine points spanning the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarter to push the lead back to a safe 15.

The 76ers are within four losses of matching last season's franchise-worst start and are five defeats away from tying the NBA record, set by the 2009 Nets, for longest losing streak to begin a season.

Philadelphia, which opened a six-game road trip, is three away from tying the NBA record of 26 straight losses. The 76ers already share that dubious mark with Cleveland, with Philadelphia's skid from Jan. 31-March 27, 2014, matching the Cavaliers' between Nov. 20, 2010-Feb. 9, 2011.

The Hornets made 49.4 percent of their attempts while the Sixers hit 40.5 percent and had 18 turnovers. Their 90.2 points per game is the fewest in the NBA.
