Woodland food drive in Gurnee

Woodland Elementary District 50 in Gurnee will host a holiday food drive to help school system families. Jewel-Osco is working with Woodland for the drive and has set up a collection site at its Gurnee location, 6509 W. Grand Ave. The drive runs through Dec. 8. "This event has become part of a district tradition for the last 15 years," Superintendent Joy Swoboda said. The district is also collecting new hats and mittens and new or gently used books. Parents may send their donations to school with their child or drop them off at the Woodland Educational Support Center, 1105 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee. Anyone who has questions or who knows of a needy district family who may benefit from receiving a holiday food basket, contact Evelyn Cacioppo, Elementary West social worker, at ecacioppo@dist50.net or (847) 984-8990.
