Contested primaries in store for Kane County coroner, auditor
There will be contested primaries for Kane County coroner and Kane County Board districts 10, 18 and 22, as candidates filed election petitions Monday morning for the March primary.
Coroner Rob Russell and Dr. Bob Tiballi both filed for the Republican primary for coroner. Tao "Tom" Martinez of North Aurora is seeking the Democratic nomination. Martinez ran against Russell four years ago.
Douglas Sullivan of Batavia turned in his paperwork to take on Susan Starrett of North Aurora in the Republican primary for county board District 10.
And James MacRunnels of Elburn will challenge incumbent Drew Frasz of Elburn in the Republican primary for county board district 18.
All turned in their petitions themselves at the Kane County clerk's office.
Board Chairman Chris Lauzen of Aurora also filed for re-election. So far, he is unopposed in the Republican primary.
Auditor Terry Hunt of Sugar Grove, however, is being challenged by Craig P. Lee of Geneva. This is Lee's first run for public office.
Other offices
• Willie Clements of Elgin is seeking the Democratic nomination for county board District 22. He will face Randy Hopp, also of Elgin, in the primary.
• Incumbent Joseph Haimann signed up for the Democratic primary for county board District 24.
• Incumbent Brian W. Dahl is seeing the Democratic nomination for Kane County Board District 6.
• Kane County Recorder of Deeds Sandy Wegman of Elgin has filed for the Republican primary.
• Her daughter, Penny Wegman of Elgin, has filed for the Democratic primary for Kane County Board District 20 seat.
• Linda Pasetti-Olson of Montgomery is seeking the Republican nomination for county board District 8.
• Incumbent Mike Kenyon of South Elgin filed for the Republican primary.
• Incumbent Mark Davoust of Geneva is seeking the Republican nomination for his seat in the 14th board district.
• Republican incumbent John Hoscheit of St. Charles also wants to keep his board District 12 post.
• District 4 board member Brian Pollock of Aurora filed for the Democratic primary.
• And Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon submitted his paperwork for re-election in the Republican primary.
