Burger King opening in Carpentersville next year

Carpentersville residents will soon have another option for fast food along Randall Road.

The village board this week approved the development of a Burger King restaurant and drive-through in the Binnie Randall Commons.

Community Development Director Marc Huber said construction on the 2,567-square-foot building will commence next spring, and the restaurant will likely open during the summer.

"It'll be nice to expand the commercial use along there, providing variety for both our residents and our visitors," he said.

The new fast-food restaurant will have a "tall order," as the new site is just down the road from a successful McDonald's, said Trustee Paul Humpfer, who also serves as chairman of the business development commission.

However, he said, its location at the northeast corner of Binnie and Randall roads, just north of the Chase Bank and Walgreens, makes the Burger King a good option for people during their commutes.

The vacant lot has been intended as a fast-food restaurant since the Walgreens was built more than a decade ago, Village President Ed Ritter said. He added that the initial plans indicated an establishment would be built within the year.

"It's been a vacant parcel for a long time," Huber said. "It's a good addition to the Randall Road corridor."
